 I have created this Maid of Honor checklist to help you make sure you know exactly what your Maid of Honor duties are going to be.

This is certainly an honor to have been chosen as Maid of Honor and to be able to enjoy the occasion you must be organized. Consider yourself the ‘glue that holds the stuff together!’ In basic terms you will be everywhere from behind the scenes preparing and primping to the very forefront of meeting, greeting and seating, plus let’s not forget the Maid of Honor Speeches.

Every wedding is different and so your role will vary. You may have a very minor role if the Bride has arranged to hire a wedding planner or her Mother is highly involved and you may have a central role nothing short of wedding planner and Mother all wrapped into one wonderful Maid of Honor. Your Maid of Honor Duties are certainly not something to be taken lightly.

The Maid of Honor Checklist

“Take a look over the checklist so you know what your Maid of Honor duties should be and then discuss with the Bride and clarify what duties she is expecting from you”

 

  1. Hen Party or Bachellorette Party
  2. Shopping for and choosing the wedding dress, bridesmaid dresses together as the Bride wishes
  3. You will be in charge of co-ordinating the other bridesmaid duties, bridesmaid etiquette and liaise with the Best Man
  4. Bridal shower to be arranged by you with assistance of bridesmaids and possibly Mother of the Bride
  5. Arrange the Bride’s train if she has one and double check she looks her best for photos ie. no lipstick on teeth etc
  6. Hold the Bride’s bouquet during ceremony
  7. Sign as witness on the marriage license
  8. Dance at wedding usually with the Best Man
  9. Toast the Bride and Groom
  10. Personalize the honeymoon suite with scented candles, champagne, chocolates, rose petals etc.
As you can see, Maid of Honor duties are not for the faint hearted and whilst performing all these duties you must also be sure to look your best as you will be in almost all the photos and you may even need to help the photographer getting everyone in place, but you will do great and I know this because your best friend or sister would not have asked you if she did not have every faith that you will be the best at all these Maid of Honor duties.
If you keep a note-book handy and jot down funny experiences along the way, whilst trying on dresses or choosing flowers, you will usually find that these go a long way to creating great Maid of Honor speeches.
